Basics of Interface Design

An interface design was developed and introduced for making it easy for users to effectively use their computers, for whatever purpose they used it. It obviously means that the interface design should be simple and easy to handle. With the growth in various areas of technology, users expect more about the sophistication of the interfaces they use, including the web page designs. All that they expect is easy access to the information they are looking for.

It is not as difficult as it sounds to build a sophisticated and easy to use web interface. All that one needs to do is to pay keen attention to the requirements of the target audience and to make a note of their cultural convention of using various controls. Without gaining knowledge about this basic information, it would be difficult to comply to their needs. However, the website should not be designed with just one type of customer in mind but should be developed by putting on the shoes of a customer, a casual visitor and even the customer who wishes to make a requisition or complaint. This could be accomplished to the fullest by getting the website tested by various types of users.

Navigation is something which is very essential to be considered as far as the user friendliness of any website is concerned. The users should not, at any point, get confused about where they are at a given moment and should easily be able to move to the previous or next page they wish to browse. Placement of icons, instructions on how to navigate and clear graphics would certainly help the users and encourage them to proceed further rather than shutting down the website and moving on to their next task.

Dead end pages are something crucial, which should be avoided as far as possible.  A straight hierarchy which takes the user deep inside the website would not help, unless there is a link to the home page. Also, in this case, the user would be unaware of the rest of the website's content. So it is always advisable to have the navigational links chained together, without making them too nested and complicated, enabling the users to move anywhere within the website.

These are the basic points to be noted while designing any interface design and that is the strategy we strictly follow at Web Design UK to make each and every design a success. All that one should remember while aiming to design a successful interface design is that the design should be kept as simple as possible without cluttering it with too many images. Fixing the target as help to the customers, any interface design can be designed successfully.
