FrontPage – web editor for starters
FrontPage officially known as Microsoft Office FrontPage is a WYSIWYG HTML editor released by the computer giant Microsoft inline with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. The editor has established itself as a base to handle all other web authoring tools. As a beginner it is easy to start with FrontPage. The before is justified with the built-in support features. It is very starter-friendly than many other tools. Similarly, links provide in the site designed can be managed with the help of Hyperlinks view.
FrontPage fully supports HTML and Cascading Style Sheet and it partially support JavaScript. Along with the support for scripting language and CSS, FrontPage also supports image editing option via Image Composer. To supply data for the websites, FrontPage provides an option for integrating data from Excel and Access, the Office products of Microsoft. Database integration in FrontPage is relatively simple when compared with other tools. The dynamism is also ensured while using FrontPage. For example, when the URL of a page is changed, corresponding name of the link is changed in all the referenced pages.
FrontPage with the enhanced features had its latest release as Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 (version 6) in the year 2003. By the last month of the year 2006, Microsoft introduced “Microsoft Expression Web” to replace FrontPage. The upgraded version is partially based on FrontPage. FrontPage web authoring tool was used to develop and maintain smaller website projects. When moving on to high-level web designing projects FrontPage was lacking certain features. Now it is compensated in the new Expression Web. It can assist web designers to develop full fledged websites.
